B L O O M

This collection was developed through a series of draped workshops that later informs a method of fabric manipulation, where the process is then further experimented, then extracted to form a collection. The whole idea of this project was referred back to back from the Garden and Flower show installation. The blooming stages of the bud informed the volume and shapes. The end result was two dresses that are complete contrast from each other. The red dress was a fiery bloom just at the stage of bursting into a matured flower - sculptural, bold, powerful and seductive. It was a method of creating a new textile by bonding, and pleating, to create a sculptured wave-effect that resemble petals when it is cleverly placed on the body. The second dress is more languid and filled with movement, the effect of a looser, more deconstructed wave. Subtle, soft, delicate but powerfully distinguished by its own from the stiff, manipulated, and controlled parody.
