The modern suit is reinterpreted as a form of protection to shield the body from external elements, since historically, the suit was essentially derived from a knight’s armour. Tailoring acts as a key focus to reveal the body of the male anatomy, concentrating particularly on the shoulder musculature and the chest, in order to project the symbol of strength, power, confidence of the male ethos. The idea of using beige as a colour thus creates an illusion whereby the male body appears “nude” but is in fact protected by a suit that shields and serves as protection.
